Portrait of artist Dion Salvador shot on a Mamiya C330 Medium Format Camera

Dion Salvador

Having mentioned contact sheets on the previous blog entry I thought I’d upload this contact sheet I produced in the darkroom of artsit Dion Salvador. The images were shot on my Mamiya C330f (80mm lens) on a tripod, and Fuji black and white film. The light was coming in from a skylight window to his right hand side. He was stood against a background upon which he paints. It’s good to pin up the contact sheets and reflect on it from time to time before deciding which one to print. I also like contact sheets as finished pieces of work in their own right. With portraits you can see the subtle changes in expression.

    great!
allready a couple of months im hesitating to put some (printed) contact sheets online because i think nothing better than a contact sheet to reflect on!
also very interesting to see the differences between photographers: not my style to make that many images with the same framing…great to see how othes work!!
