Interior Photography Flash Lighting
Interior shots of the Brighton Fringe Basement for Design LSM.
Very brown monotone finish. Less than 2 hours to do the work and approx 7 shots to take. I hadn’t seen the location but I knew it was very low lighting. Digital doesn’t like low lighting. I decided to work with one Bowens Prolite 60 and bounce the light off the opposite the corner/ceiling/wall.
Without the flash lighting fill-in the results would have been dull. Light was needed to bring out the texture in the woodwork which would havinterior photographere fallen into shadow with the available lighting. The flash also helped to stop the spotlamps from completely bleaching out the wall. The final image is brighter than the original scene but that helps to give it some impact.
The flash was used maybe at half power and the exposure was bracketed around a second or two. The flash was used like a fill-in flash. Subltle. I took more shots than I would have done if working tethered to a laptop as I don’t trust the viewer on the camera. It’s safe and doesn’t take much time to do and easy enough to pick the right shot when editing.
