Brighton Photo Biennial, No Opportunities for Photographers

It’s not possible to participate in the Brighton Photo Biennial 2008 unless the curator Julian Stallabrass knows of your work. That eliminates the majority of us. When I asked how they went about choosing photographers for the Biennial they replied:

Dear Bip,
Thank you for your enquiry. Brighton Photo Biennial is an ambitious celebration of photography now looking forward to its 2008 edition. The festival is a curated programme of exhibitions and each time a different curator is invited to select work around a chosen theme. Therefore, photographers are unable to submit work for exhibition as part of the Biennial. The Brighton Photo Biennial Curator 2008, Julian Stallabrass, is currently confirming the exhibition programme with our partners.
Kind regards,

At least we have the Brighton Photo Fringe and your work won’t get nicotine stained in the bars, cafes and foyer spaces!

  1. …so often do we all go unnoticed unless your friends are within the business, even with a extraordinary amount of knowledge and creative stability, may never rest assure, for the chosen choosers of the so called chosen ones have their lists and their pay checks, their favorites that will forever stay great, their pretentious minds may soon explode with an overload of flauntingly conceited over confidence and snobby characteristics, they may never have a real understanding of anything if they are to prejudge all so soon, and without even viewing the visual energy of the artists work is almost absurd. But who am I to judge the judgers, I’m simply replying to a random comment that unpleased me while undergoing an accidental search engine…
