The website…
I decided to buy the URL ‘bipmistry.com’ and ‘bipmistry.co.uk’. My name is Bipinchandra J Mistry. My first website (still live) is www.bipinchandra.co.uk
I researched photographers’ websites to see what kind of designs appeared to be popular amongst photgraphers that ‘appeared’ to be doing well! A plain white background, simple to navigate, a small selection of images to present the essence of their work, a slideshow facility, some biographical information. www.bipmistry.com is not far removed from my first website design which I did around seven years ago.
The site is registered with and hosted by Active24. That was a mistake because it means I have to pay more money to launch bipmistry.co.uk, or I have to move them both to another service provider. All boring, because seeing the site live is the biggest kick!
You’ll see on the site a selection of product shots, portraits and interiors. All the work on the site has been produced via paid commissions. So, it’s a starting point. I am not happy with some of it so I will change it soon.
Hummel football shoe was shot on a sheet of perspex lit from below. A softbox on the right hand side and reflectors to the left and in front of the shoe. An assistant would have been very useful on this occasion. I need to acquire more gizmo’s like stands and clamps.
As soon as I have the right shots on the site I will start to promote it. Meanwhile it is good to see it develop and change.
Flash sites are not search friendly so they don’t do well when people are trying to find photographers on the search engines. I will have a html holding page created to improve the sites chances of being found on the web. Meanwhile, I will be networking in order to get more clients. Word of mouth!
Hello Bip, I thought I’d look you up to see what you are doing, like the Gaza and installation work. I also liked the work from 15 years ago taken around the Ganges. I knew you in Bradford around this time. I’m teaching photography this year at Shrewsbury College & thought your web site would be useful.Cheers hope all is well.
